Since its first race in 1911, the Indianapolis Speedway has been known as "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing". The Indy Speedway is known for one of NASCAR's top events, The Indy 500. The track's rich history includes the Yard of Bricks, and the even though the track has been resurfaced many times over the years, bricks from the original track inlaid at the start/finish line to preserve its historical roots.

The museum and the speedway grounds were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, and is a major tourist attraction.
